The Year 1995

This year was to be somewhat quieter by comparison. After a lot of to-ing and fro-ing, a long cherished dream of theirs became reality when the band set up its own label in conjunction with JKP (Jochens Kleine Plattenfirma" = Jochen's tiny record label). Although the Hosen had always thoroughly scrutinised anything to do with their own careers, this was the final step towards autonomy. Whilst preparing for their next release, the band couldn't completely disappear from the face of the earth. So they decided to venture into unusual pastures.

On the one hand they delighted residents of the federal capital and eastern Germany with their own radio broadcast on Berlin's Radio Fritz containing highlights from the band archives as well as their opinions on everything under the sun. On the other, they staged a classic ice Hockey match supported by a selection of players from the Duesseldorf EG, Germany's best team of the 90's. Despite weeks of training at the hands of the DEG player Uli Hiemer, the Hosen narrowly lost the match 10:11 against a Leningrad Cowboys team made up by members of the Finnish national squad.

The Hosen took part in a protest concert against the storage of Castor containers filled with atomic waste at Gorleben. The sampler "Stop Chirac", aimed at the atomic tests by the French Government, was also released, containing the Hosen number "Tour Pour Sauver L'amour" ("All in the name of Love"). In addition, the first seven Hosen singles were released in MAXI CD Box format entitled "Music was their hobby". And for that year the Christmas concert was only for a chosen few, namely the inmates of the Duesseldorf detention centre (Ulmer Heights).
