The Year 1989
Together with the new club-members of "Fortuna": Gensch & Baffoe
After the rise in popularity that Alex had brought about, there seemed only one sensible option - to celebrate with everyone who'd made it possible, namely the fans. Naturally, that meant going on the road again! The result: five whole months of massive, full on concerts and huge crowds who actually sang along to all the songs.
An uplifting feeling indeed after all the years in the second division.
The Hosen weren't quite playing the really big venues, but instead they were playing the medium-sized ones twice. The greatest coup of the tour was to withhold one Fortuna Mark per ticket to be used at the end of the tour to "donate" two players to the Hosen's favourite club. It was only a partial success in the end - the Hosen paid for Tony Baffoe's left leg, but it's the thought that counts.
Towards the close of the year the band was in France as news of the collapse of the Berlin Wall came through. On the spur of the moment, the Hosen decided to travel to Berlin to take part in the historic party that was spontaneously happening there. And back in Duesseldorf, precious little time was allowed to elapse before the Hosen were back in the studio to record their seventh album "Auf dem Kreuzzug Ins Glueck".
